Fortified Solar, a Greenville County-based manufacturer of solar technology, is investing in a $22.75 million expansion, the state Department of Commerce announced July 21.
Founded in 2020 in Travelers Rest, the company manufactures custom steel roofing systems with building-integrated photovoltaic technology and has an existing manufacturing facility in Taylors.
The investment, which is expected to create more than 150 jobs, will create a new manufacturing facility at 10 A.D. Asbury Road in southern Greenville County adjacent to the South Carolina Technology and Aviation Center. The facility is operational and is expected to reach full production capacity by October.
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits related to the project. The council also awarded a $150,000 Set-Aside grant to Greenville County to assist with the costs of building improvements.
