The unemployment rate in Greenville County and South Carolina, overall, continues shrinking as the economy bounces back from COVID-19 shutdowns.
Greenville County’s unemployment rate sits at 2.8%. It was 4.1% just this past June, according to data from the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce. Job expansion continues in a variety of sectors including leisure and hospitality, education and health services, trade, transportation and utilities.
Statewide, September unemployment edged lower to 3.9%, down from 4.2% in August. That’s a fraction better than the national rate, which dropped from 4.8% to 4.6% between September and October.
