When the pandemic hit, Eric Eckelman was one of many whose businesses were impacted, but he quickly found a way to keep doing what he loves: helping people move and live better.
With more than 20 years of experience in orthopedic massage and pain management, Eckelman was a perfect fit for StretchLab and immediately knew he had made the right move.
“I was so used to working for myself, I thought it would be a difficult transition, but that’s been far from the case,” he says. “The entire staff is highly skilled and well trained, and we’re encouraged to use our abilities to help clients.”
Eckelman, who serves as lead flexologist at the Augusta Road studio, heard about StretchLab through a client and was thrilled to see the difference assisted stretching can make in people’s lives.
“It’s opened the door for people who don’t know a lot about ‘body work,’ which I use as a term to cover massage and other types of hands-on therapy. People who might shy away are finding a simple way to take better care of themselves,” he says, noting that many enjoy the studio’s open setting while carrying out assisted stretch routines customized for the individual.
Eckelman says his clients can feel confident with any of the flexologists whose diverse backgrounds range from yoga to physical therapy, personal training and more.
“I actually suggest occasionally switching up to have different experiences. It creates a better balance for the body,” he says.
In addition to the flexologists, Eckelman credits the rest of the StretchLab team.
“The front-of-the-house staff also nails it in terms of serving our clients,” he says. “It’s just a great place to be.”
