A new subdivision is coming to Rutherford Road in Greenville, bringing 12 townhomes to the intersection of Rutherford Road and Cotton Street.
Plans for the subdivision, known as the Cotton Street Townhomes, were reviewed by city staff during the September meeting of Greenville’s Planning Commission.

The plans submitted by property owner Charles Stone and Orange Cotton LLC currently call for 12 townhomes at 2 Cotton St. ranging in square footage from roughly 2,000 to 2,300 square feet, with two- and three-bedroom units available.
Representatives for the project gave more context back in May during a neighborhood meeting, the notes for which were included in the application that was reviewed by the city on Sept. 21.

The townhomes are expected to start in the $500,000 range, depending on construction costs, according to the notes.
Regarding traffic concerns, the city has zoned the property to allow for 20 townhomes, which is eight more than planned for the project. That will hopefully ensure no traffic issues, the developers said.
To enter the subdivision, there will be an access point off Cotton Street, which will lead to the back of the units where parking is available.
The developer also plans to explore the possibility of widening Cotton Street or adding other street improvements.
There is no word yet on a timeline for completion.
