A report by Greenville Area Development Corporation, a nonprofit that works to promote and enhance Greenville County’s economic growth and development, found that 90% of 146 economic development contacts came from companies outside of Greenville County in 2022.
GADC’s 2022 Project Summary Report was compiled by GADC Research and Marketing Manager Bryana Mistretta, who examined data from the nonprofit’s website, its sites and buildings database and responses to RFIs and complex information requests. The report evaluated data for companies seeking to locate to the area or expand in Greenville County such as:
- Project size demands
- Capital investment drivers
- Wins
- Target industry
The report also found that 42% of these organizations were in Greenville’s target industries, automotive and life sciences, and 34% were from international organizations.
“The 2022 Project Summary Report provides our real estate and development community, along with other business leaders, with a valuable analysis of market trends, industry demand, and needs for the future,” said GADC President and CEO Mark Farris. “This emphasis on research, analytics, and communication is essential to achieving consistent and long-term economic development success as we seek to make data-driven decisions to foster the continued prosperity of Greenville County and its residents.”
In 2022, GADC fielded more than 120 property inquiries with around 95% in connection to industrial property searches. The nonprofit also reported 2,326 new jobs and $470 million in new capital investment were announced last year.
