Representatives from the city of Mauldin, The Parker Group and Longbranch Development gathered to break ground on Maverick Yards, a 6.5-acre mixed-use development, on June 12.
The project at 13 Jenkins Court serves as a portion of Mauldin’s city center plan, a roadmap created over 10 years ago by city officials to establish a downtown area to the municipality, and will include The Pickle Yard, a 20,000-square-foot industrial warehouse redeveloped by The Parker Group. Once complete, the space will include:
- Pickleball courts
- Three or four food concepts
- Outdoor seating
- Stage for live performances
- Fire pits
- Beer garden
Partnering with The Parker Group, Longbranch Development will handle the residential portion of this mixed-use project. The developer will level the city’s former Public Works facility and a light-industrial building on 2.4 acres of the property to make way for a 42-unit townhome community. Each townhome will feature three bedrooms and a two-car garage.
“I am hopeful this project will spur even more development in the area,” said Mauldin Mayor Terry Merritt. “That we [will] give people new and exciting places to live, work and play in the city of Mauldin. This project is going to transform the city in so many ways, but one thing that is not going to change is the character of Mauldin. It’s going to enhance it.”
Maverick Yards is expected to open in late 2024.
