VisitGreenvilleSC.com combs social media posts in real time
VisitGreenvilleSC announced the launch Wednesday of its brand new website and mobile site, VisitGreenvilleSC.com. The site allows visitors and residents to view suggested itineraries and tour options in the VISIT section, view a comprehensive events calendar, or see the weather forecast.
The new site is built with the ability to curate social media posts in real time. The content is curated daily from visitors and residents who share their experiences online, according to VisitGreenvilleSC. The moderator scours the Web for social content specific to Greenville (photos, videos or posts) that people have tagged with the hashtag #yeahTHATgreenville, among others, in social platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, Flickr and YouTube. Content is also curated and tagged to display on VisitGreenvilleSC.com’s homepage, interior pages and on relevant listing pages for specific businesses including hotels, restaurants and attractions.
It’s the first website of its kind in the travel and tourism/destination marketing industry to moderate social elements in such an integrated manner, said Jennifer Stilwell, chief marketing officer of VisitGreenvilleSC. “YeahTHATGreenville [the brand VisitGreenvilleSC unveiled earlier this year] is all about storytelling,” Stilwell said. “People in Greenville love being here and experiencing Greenville. People go out of their way to share stories. So it was only natural that we developed a method to share all of the great experiences people are enjoying in Greenville – each unique to the individual. We want to curate authentic experiences on a regular, frequent basis from both residents and visitors.”
