There’s a lore behind the New York bagel. As the story goes, the difference is in the Catskills water.
Brooklyn Water Bagels wants to bring its “Brooklynized” bagel to Greenville and is currently scouting real estate.
“Consumers everywhere want the Brooklyn Water Bagel experience. We’re eager to provide a high-quality breakfast fast-casual dining experience, with our authentic NYC bagels and customizable coffee offerings that aren’t currently available in Greenville,” said David Gonzalez, head of development for the business. “With our growth plan to expand across the Southeast, we see strong potential with Greenville and look forward to offering a fresh presence to the current breakfast scene.”
The secret behind the bagel is the water. The franchise first purifies the water – taken from wherever a location opens – then infuses it with minerals found in the Catskill Mountains that find their way into the water in New York City. The bagel is then boiled in the “Brooklynized” water, which mimics the taste of the famous New York bagel.
Gonzalez said the brand hopes to expand throughout South Carolina after Greenville. He added that while the bagel purveyor will mostly stay true to its menu, it looks forward to adding some items that will be unique to Greenville.
A location has not been nailed down, but stay tuned for updates as it adds to Greenville’s growing bagel scene.
