Local barbecue joint, Monkey Wrench Smokehouse, announced its intent to close on Aug. 7 by social media.
“After six and a half years of wonderful moments, celebrations, and memories, we’ve made the difficult decision to close Monkey Wrench Smokehouse,” the post read.

In the same post, Monkey Wrench assured its followers that another barbecue house – East Greenville’s SBH BBQ – will take its place. It will be the second location for SBH, with its first at 5021 Pelham Road.
The last day for Monkey Wrench will be Aug. 11. Its owners, Andy O’Mara and Loren Frant, added the smokehouse to their portfolio in 2018. The two are the minds behind Sidewall Pizza Company, which also started in Travelers Rest.
Monkey Wrench Smokehouse is located at 21 S Main St. in Travelers Rest near the corner of South Main Street and South Poinsett Highway.
