International firm to become one of downtown’s largest companies
Downtown Greenville is getting a new international headquarters.
WYNIT Distribution confirmed plans today relocate its headquarters and bring 111 office jobs to downtown Greenville in early 2016, making it one of the largest companies headquartered downtown.
The new headquarters will occupy 57,000 square feet of office space on three floors of the ONE Building, where WYNIT plans to employ 200 people during the next several years. The company is relocating its headquarters from North Syracuse, N.Y., to Greenville, where WYNIT will house its customer service, purchasing, finance, marketing, logistics and parts of its IT teams.
“Moving our headquarters has been one of the toughest decisions we have had to make as a business,” said WYNIT Distribution COO Pete Richichi. “For a variety of compelling reasons this is the best decision for the company and its employees in the long term. Greenville is a place where we can grow.”
WYNIT Distribution is a wholesale distributor of brands in consumer electronics, photo, wide-format printing, security, sports and recreation industries such as Fitbit, Hewlett-Packard, Epson, Canon and Microsoft. The company works with major retailers such as Best Buy, Target, Walmart, REI and Kohl’s.
“We considered a lot of factors when moving our offices to Greenville; the biggest was deciding what will help our company grow well into the future,” said CEO and founder Geoffrey Lewis. “We believe Greenville will make WYNIT even more successful for years to come.”
The company plans to pull in some employees from its Eden Prairie, Minn., and New York locations, as well as all of its 36 employees and operations in its Piedmont, S.C., satellite office.
The announcement means more than just jobs, as Greenville has struggled in the past to reel in big headquarters to its downtown, said Greenville Mayor Knox White.
“We are proud that Greenville has been chosen as the new home for WYNIT Distribution’s headquarters, and are honored by the WYNIT leadership’s trust and investment in our city,” White said. “Public/private partnerships are the hallmark of downtown Greenville’s continued success, and with the support of our local business community, our county and state colleagues, and the city’s elected officials and staff, this was truly a team effort.”
