Clemson University and representatives from DPR Construction celebrated the “topping out” of the college’s new Advanced Materials Innovation Complex Sept. 6.
“Once completed, the Advanced Materials Innovation Complex will be the largest research footprint in the history of Clemson University,” said Anand Gramopadhye, dean of the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences. “This facility will be a beacon of research innovation and talent for our state, supporting industry and serving as a pipeline for advanced materials, manufacturing and energy industries.”
The $130-million, 143,000-square-foot project broke ground in May 2023 and will house Clemson’s department of materials science and engineering and will offer space to researchers and educators from the materials science and engineering, chemistry, and chemical and biomolecular engineering departments. Once completed, the facility will include research and teaching laboratories, interdisciplinary classrooms and collaborative spaces for students and faculty.
