Japan-based Nissin Foods will invest $228 million in a new Greenville County facility creating more than 300 jobs, the company announced Nov. 9.
The global manufacturer of instant ramen products is purchasing a 640,000-square-foot facility on Bracken Road in Piedmont, which will join the company’s U.S. operations in Gardena, California, and Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Citing the region’s role as a rapidly growing manufacturing center, Nissin President and CEO Michael Price said the company determined early on in expansion plans that Greenville was the ideal location for the new facility.
With a brand portfolio that includes Cup Noodles®, Top Ramen®, Top Ramen® Bowl, Cup Noodles® Stir Fry®, Chow Mein, Hot & Spicy Bowl and Fire Wok, increasing demand for the company’s products has led to the need for expanded U.S. operations, the company said.
Products to be made at the new Greenville County facility were not identified by company officials.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits related to this project. The council also awarded a $250,000 Set-Aside grant to Greenville County to assist with the cost of building improvements.
