Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery has expanded its farm-focused mission to Greenville’s Main Street.
Swamp Mart officially opens April 1 at 15 S. Main St. after a brief soft opening.
“We’re really set up. Our team has done a great job and so, we’re ready to go,” marketing manager Rachel Pitman said on March 26.

The cafe was founded in 2011 by Mary Walsh and Jacqueline “Jac” Oliver to address a gap in their own lives: being able to find locally sourced produce daily, not just on farmer’s market days. The cafe and grocery has been a fixture along the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail at 205 Cedar Lane, just north of downtown.
Swamp Mart is a scaled-down version of the cafe.
“Mary and Jac’s number one goal when they opened Swamp Rabbit Cafe was to buy and sell as much local produce as possible, to support as many farmers as they can,” Pitman said. “All of our growth, every new location, everything that we’re doing is to better serve that goal.”

Last year, they were approached about the idea of opening a stand in the massive lobby of the Wells Fargo Center.
Pitman said the hope is that the mart reaches new customers and acts as a teaser for the original location.
Sandwiches, prepared salads, baked goods and beverages are available. Upcoming guests can expect nearly the whole pastry menu, save for the weekend cinnamon roll. The cafe’s signature stecca baguettes will also be offered.
Swamp Mart is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
