Greenville-based investment organizations VentureSouth and Vicinity have teamed up to create Vicinity Ventures, a platform for local alternative investing.
VentureSouth provides accredited investors access to curated opportunities in early-stage technology companies in the Southeast. Vicinity’s public funding portal is a selective platform for engaging local investors in a variety of investment opportunities like micro private equity and unique real estate projects.
The combined platform will provide users with access to content from both organizations in a single source that will be used to identify, evaluate, invest in and track various alternative investments.
“With the support of investors across the region, we have been proud to build VentureSouth into one of the country’s leading early-stage investing networks over the past 10 years,” said VentureSouth Managing Director Matt Dunbar. “We are thrilled to now partner with Vicinity to add more value for our investors through a world-class technology platform and access to a broader range of investment classes, while also opening new access to capital for issuers of many types across many local markets.”
Over the last 15 years, VentureSouth has grown to more than 500 active investors and its members have invested nearly $100 million into 116 startups in the Southeast. Since its founding in 2019, Vicinity has gained more than 2,400 users with 1,200 investors backing 20 projects with nearly $20 million. For more information, visit vicinityventures.vc.
