HS Pharmaceuticals LLC signed an exclusive agreement with the Medical Research Council (MRC) of Great Britain to license global rights to the MRC’s proprietary stabilized silicate technology.
HS Pharma expects to use the technology to build upon its pre-clinical data packages with HS-7, which so far have been assembled for various types of cancer and drug resistant pathogens.
The technology, which enables precise tailoring of the physical chemistry of silicates as well as their stabilization for administration, is positioned as a superior means for HS Pharma to control and stabilize their potentially transformational HS-7 therapy.
HS Pharma will then initiate Phase I studies in late 2015 or early 2016 for both topically administered infectious disease applications and intravenously administered oncology applications.
“It is evident that patients suffering from complex and infected wounds or from cancer are truly in need of more effective therapies and we look forward to building upon our pre-clinical work as well as that undertaken by the MRC to deliver new and effective treatment options for those in need.” said Jon Wilken, CEO and co-manager of HS Pharma.
