GP McLeer was appointed by Gov. Henry McMaster to serve on the State Workforce Development Board.
On behalf of the governor, the SWDB provides strategic direction to the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce and the broader workforce system. The board focuses on critical workforce-development issues, particularly those related to the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. Composed of a majority of business leaders, the SWDB also includes members of the South Carolina Senate and House, local elected officials, workforce partners and representatives from community-based organizations. Each member is appointed by and serves at the discretion of the governor.
McLeer is currently serving his second term as mayor of Fountain Inn, after first being elected in 2019.
He also serves as director of public policy and community engagement for Together SC and director of the Upstate Mobility Alliance.
