Fido will soon have a new place to run free and play in Greenville.
The city is currently taking bids from contractors to construct a new dog park at Conestee Park, adjacent to Lake Conestee Nature Park at 840 Mauldin Road, near the main entrance.
The dog park will be more than an acre and have two fenced areas with separate gates –one for small dogs and one for larger dogs. Each area will include manicured forest as well as open areas for running.
Benches, trash cans, a sun/rain shelter, a doggie bag dispenser and water fountain with a dog bowl are all planned amenities.
The new dog park is part of the master plan for Conestee Park, said city officials. The city of Greenville is providing the construction funds and Greenville County will maintain the dog park.
Bids are due in February and construction is expected to be completed in April.
