It’s been a little less than a month since the Corner Pocket closed in downtown Greenville and new owners revealed preliminary plans for a new restaurant to occupy its space. Now the picture is filling in a bit more with plans recently filed with the city’s Design Review Board.

The redesign shows a revamped dining room with new outdoor seating, which would be combined with a covered patio area featuring new, bifold-type doors that could be opened all the way or shut, depending on weather.
The new restaurant will have a second-floor dining room with additional seating and a bar, with access via an elevator or stairs.
The Corner Pocket pool hall was founded in 1961 by former S.C. Gov. Carroll Campbell, and has been a mainstay in downtown city nightlife.
The plans are set to be reviewed at the Nov. 6 DRB meeting.
