What trends are impacting industrial-site selection, and how are communities — especially those in South Carolina — sharpening their competitive edge?
These ideas will be explored during the Upstate SC Alliance 2024 Annual Meeting luncheon on Feb. 29 at the Greenville Convention Center.
The program will discuss regional, state and national economic development activities, with guest speakers including state Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III and CBRE Senior Vice President Alex Frei.
The event will celebrate the capital investment and job creation numbers announced across the 10-county Upstate region in 2023.
Lightsey will speak about the state’s strategic direction for economic development and showcase a freshly launched brand and messaging for doing business in South Carolina.
For a perspective on how South Carolina and the Upstate compete with other communities, Frei will share insights gathered from national site-selection searches. Frei has lived the process and his experience includes helping a defense manufacturer and food producer to locate in the Upstate.
The annual meeting is the largest event hosted each year by the public/private regional economic development organization, drawing business and government leaders from across
the Upstate region. In 2023, there were more than 500 attendees and 40 sponsor organizations.
The Upstate SC Alliance is guided by the vision of a 10-county region where business thrives, and people can prosper through access to a diverse array of career opportunities. Its mission is to establish the Upstate as a unified and innovative economic region, market the Upstate for global business investment and talent attraction, foster public-private collaboration and regional relationships, and move ideas into action.
The event is a plated luncheon open to Upstate SC Alliance investors and the public. Tickets are $50 for investors of the Upstate Alliance and $65 for non-investors. Table sponsorships, which include 10 guests and logo recognition within event promotions and program, are available for $1,000.
