Charleston-based American Rock band the Blue Dogs will headline third annual Live on the Green concert Oct. 15 in downtown Spartanburg.
Live on the Green LLC, said due to beautification efforts at Barnet Park, this year’s event will be held at the Chapman Cultural Center.
General admission is $25. Tickets will go on sale Thursday and can be purchased at www.spartanburgonthegreen.com or www.chapmanculturalcenter.org.
Live on the Green was created in 2014 by a group of young professionals from Spartanburg who hoped to make the city a destination for prominent live music events to promote economic development and community.
Funding for the organization that operates the event is directed by the Spartanburg County Foundation. Local business leaders Sims Bouwmeester, Justin Converse and Ben Graves guide the organization’s executive committee.
“We are thrilled to continue Live on the Green this fall following the booming success of last year’s rousing performance by Lee Brice,” Graves said in a statement. “Blue Dogs is a legendary South Carolina band that’s ready to rock downtown Spartanburg.”
“Last year’s Live on the Green gave people a taste of the potential for Spartanburg’s live music scene,” said Bouwmeester, owner and president of Launch Something, the Spartanburg-based strategic marketing firm handling event promotion, in a statement. “Blue Dogs is a band that’s spent over 30 years wowing crowds across the world and we’re delighted to welcome them to the stage.”
