Paw Paws USA, a Greenville-based manufacturer of custom dog products, has moved from its popular Main Street location downtown to the NEXT Manufacturing Center at 400 Birnie St.
Founder and CEO Anne Ramirez-Nutter said the move stems from the company’s growth and need for both expanded production and retail space.
Founded in 2003 and inspired by Ramirez-Nutter’s desire to create high-quality products for her beloved companion “Peanut,” Paw Paws USA has grown from a one-woman, home-based operation into a firm with five employees and a devoted customer base.
That customer base has even included the White House, which ordered several hundred custom dog collars in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. Ramirez-Nutter said the orders were intended as gifts from the nation’s chief executive and helped the company weather the pandemic-induced business slump better than it otherwise would have.
“That was the pinnacle of my career as a small-business owner,” Ramirez-Nutter said.
The White House staff told her they discovered her business by Googling “made in USA dog products.”
For Ramirez-Nutter, making products in Greenville is an important part of her business, and the company label that is stitched onto every product proudly proclaims that fact.
Paw Paws USA makes about 500 products including dog beds, collars and leashes, among other accessories, and are available in about 150 custom patterns.
