Fretwell, a community gathering place on the Mary Black Rail Trail in Spartanburg, will host a grand opening celebration June 24-26 from noon-9 p.m.
During the event at 101 Fretwell St., the first 100 customers will receive commemorative Fretwell koozies. Patrons who share opening day photos on Instagram and tag @fretwellspartanburg and #spartan will be entered to win a $100 gift card for The Spartan, a beer and wine, sandwich and snack window in the development. The gift card winner will be announced on June 27.

In addition to The Spartan, Fretwell also features:
- Little River Roasting – sells freshly roasted coffee beans, ground coffee and drinks.
- A community stage.
- Green space.
- A trail observation platform.
“We are very excited about the opening of Fretwell, Spartanburg’s newest outdoor gathering space and venue,” said Laura Stille of Fretwell Partners. “There is something for everyone here – bring the family and friends or stop by after a walk on the Rail Trail.”
Fretwelll will host the Hub City Farmers Market every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. through Aug. 3. The development will also be open noon to 8 p.m. Thursdays through Mondays.
