St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Greenville is currently undergoing facade improvements.
The $3.75 million project will replace the church’s existing exterior walls originally built in the 1960s. Over the years, the walls have deteriorated due to water damage. St. Matthew United Methodist Church is located at 701 Cleveland St. in Greenville.
The building’s exterior will be encased with copper and white-colored metal panels. New brick veneer will be added to the building’s lower-level columns. The building’s roof will also be replaced with new thermoplastic polyolefin roofing. No interior renovations will be completed as part of the project.
LS3P designed the church’s new facade and Mavin Construction is completing the exterior replacement project.
A sledgehammer ceremony was held Sept. 8 to mark the beginning of the project. Construction is expected to take eight months to complete.
