Dazia Rice launched Rice Consulting to help small-business owners get started and then scale.
“Whether it’s a website launch, help with standing up their tax status, establishing core business operations, understanding life insurance or 401(k) plans, that’s what we specialize in,” Rice says.
Rice stepped out of a long career in law enforcement to launch Rice Consulting in August 2018, and things started slowly.
“I made $25 my first year in business on about $10,000 in costs,” she laughs. “By year two, though, I got creative. That’s when we came up with ‘Greenville’s Top Consulting Company.’ We put it on a billboard with my picture and phone number in downtown Greenville.”
Then the pandemic hit, and the phone started ringing.
“The first caller just needed help with credit repair,” Rice says. “So I got him into a program that I’ve got an affiliation with. From there things took off.”
Now, Rice is trusted by more than 200 entrepreneurs from a wide range of industries — a day care in Irmo; an auto repair shop in Spartanburg; a home-painting business in Laurens; and many more.
“My target market is any small business that just needs a helping hand,” she says. “And we’re poised for growth because what we offer is a personal touch.”
