The Innovate Fund, a Greenville-based community-development entity, recently allocated $9 million in New Market Tax Credits to Meals on Wheels of Greenville.
The investment will go toward the nonprofit organization’s new campus, which is under construction on Augusta Road. Emma Wyatt, CEO of The Innovate Fund, said it is committed to supporting projects that reduce health disparities in the community.
“This investment in Meals on Wheels of Greenville aligns perfectly with that mission,” Wyatt said. “We are proud to support an organization that not only addresses the critical nutritional needs of vulnerable individuals but also enhances their overall quality of life.”
The Innovate Fund’s investment was made possible through the support of the Greenville Local Development Corp., the majority owner of the community-development entity. Bogue Wallin, board chair of the Greenville Local Development Corp., said the NMTC program is a powerful model for community development.
“The NMTC program is invaluable, not only for funneling investment directly into Greenville, but also because The Innovate Fund’s success across our service area directly allows the GLDC to be an active lender and grant maker in the city,” Wallin said.
Meals on Wheels also received a $3 million NMTC allocation from Capital One Community Renewal Fund for its new campus. The tax-credit investor for both allocations was Capital One.
Once completed, the 24,000-square-foot facility at 3905 Augusta Road will help expand the nonprofit’s operations and delivery services. Catriona Carlisle, executive director of Meals on Wheels of Greenville, said the organization is deeply honored to receive the transformative NMTC allocations.
“This support allows us to expand our Meals on Wheels operations, reach more vulnerable individuals, and invest in a facility that reflects the dignity and care every person deserves,” Carlisle said. “With this funding, we’re not just serving meals — we’re building a stronger, more resilient community.”
