Officials with VisitGreenvilleSC, Greenville County’s convention and visitors bureau, are heading to New York City again to be recognized by the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International.
VisitGreenvilleSC won seven golds, eight silvers and three bronzes in the association’s annual Adrian Awards competition for good marketing work in the hospitality industry. The awards will be presented during a gala at the New York Marriott Marquis on Feb. 21.
One of the golds was given for securing publicity about Greenville as a travel destination.
The publicity took the form of an article that dominated the front of the Chicago Tribune’s Travel section and also appeared in other major daily newspapers around the country, according to Jennifer Stilwell, chief strategic officer at VisitGreenvilleSC.
Helping VisitGreenvilleSC arrange that publicity was TK PR, a local public relations agency.
It won’t be known until later whether judges decided to give VisitGreenvilleSC another platinum this year as they did last year, since platinums aren’t revealed until the night of the awards ceremony.
Last year, VisitGreenvilleSC claimed one of just six platinums presented at the Adrian Awards for a mailing to meeting planners that included Valentine’s Day chocolates.
