When I took this job, I had one main unspoken goal: Get a chicken on the cover of the Greenville Journal. And by gum, this week we pulled it off, thanks to staff writer April A. Morris, who is never afraid to scratch around for a good story. April’s reporting and Greg Beckner’s lively photographs show how one company is helping your neighbors join the backyard chicken revolution a few months at a time.
In the Upstate Business Journal, commercial real estate reporter Sherry Jackson showed us many sides of the NorthPointe development, which is set to completely rebuild, from the ground up, an intersection many people – me included – drive through almost every day. And staff writer Benjamin Jeffers turned in a nicely informative enterprise piece for the Greenville Journal on the Kroc Center as a hub for tennis-fueled social networking. His story almost made me want to go out and do some physical activity with actual other people, which is just crazy talk if you know me at all.
A very busy and productive week, in which we were all running around like some kind of barnyard animals (can’t quite remember which one) with our heads cut off. Great work, great content, great newspapers. Onward and upward. Thanks, and see y’all next week.
