Assisted Stretching at Greenville’s StretchLab
As school resumes, students from kindergarten to college are back on campus, and parents may find themselves with some extra time on their hands. Whether your goal is to clean out the garage or enjoy a fall hike, it’s important to maintain physical flexibility as your routine changes.
An assisted stretching routine can be the first step toward the freedom to live your best life, according to General Manager Luke McClellan of Greenville’s StretchLab.
“Whether your children are gone for the day or you have an empty nest, there may often be a ‘now what?’ moment,” he says. “You think of things you want to spend more time doing — golfing, gardening, sightseeing when you’re traveling — and stretching is a way to ensure your body can keep up.”
McClellan applies the same principle to those who have recently retired or might be considering retirement at the end of the year.
“You may stop working in the traditional sense, but you shouldn’t stop moving,” he says. “Flexibility and mobility can rapidly decline if you stop moving and exercising. People who move well later in life are the ones who prioritized their mobility and never really slowed down.”
At StretchLab, certified flexologists create customized routines for each individual with the goal of preventing muscle soreness and joint pain. McClellan notes that mobility and flexibility that has been lost over time due to inactivity or injury can still be regained. At least one to two sessions per week are recommended for maximum benefits.
“Regardless of age or fitness level, a consistent stretching program, tailored to your needs, can reduce the likelihood of injuries and make you less susceptible to everyday aches and pains,” McClellan says.
Without a 9-to-5 schedule or kids’ schedules to consider, it’s natural to “work” less; however, stretching is an excellent way to ensure you can move more. Get a fresh start this fall by booking an introductory stretch today!
