Addy’s Dutch Cafe & Restaurant in downtown Greenville announced Nov. 7 on its social media it will close its doors.
In a statement on its Facebook page, the European-style eatery at 17 E. Coffee St. said the closure comes after it lost a lawsuit with its landlord regarding water damage to the location.
The Greenville Journal has not been able to independently confirm the details of the lawsuit.
With the trial behind it, Addy’s is asking its customers to help it clean out the space by taking an item or imported beer in exchange for a donation towards its owners’ legal fees.
“We need your help,” the social media post said. “We’ll be open for a limited time this week for those who would like to come by one last time, select a token or a fine imported beer to take home, in exchange for a donation to help us with our considerable legal fees. We spent so much money to try to keep Addy’s going and now we could use some financial help from those of you who appreciated Addy’s throughout the years.”
Addy’s will open on Nov. 10, Nov. 11 or Nov. 12. For more information, visit facebook.com/Addys-Dutch-Cafe-Restaurant-52116237847.
