Evolve, a new contrast therapy and wellness studio is now operating at The Commons in downtown Greenville, with plans to hold a grand opening Jan. 3, 2026.
It is the mixed-use development’s first wellness tenant. The studio totals 3,300 square feet, with cold plunges, a cedar sauna, steam room, an infrared sauna and red light recovery, among other treatments. The facility will soon offer a mocktail and smoothie bar with coffee and health-focused, grab-and-go options.
Evolve takes a class approach to the treatments inviting visitors to experience contrast therapy in groups. Contrast therapy is a wellness practice that alternates between cold plunges and hot saunas. The group setting and disconnection from digital is all part of the adventure.
“You can’t bring your phone in [the sauna] because it’ll overheat, so it’s one of the rare times in most people’s lives when they have removed all devices – all pinging and noises – and really have this opportunity to zoom in, to just be really present with the people around us,” said owner Jessica Clohessy.
Clohessy founded the studio with Patrick Brown. The two were inspired by their own experiences with wellness. Clohessy said she regularly cold-plunged last winter and it significantly improved her mood.
“It gave me the best winter of my life because I hate the cold and it made me so much more cold tolerant, and made me so much more awake in the morning,” she said.
Currently, the studio is offering founding memberships and drop-ins, as well as massage. The Commons is located in Unity Park at 147 Welborn St.
