Bank of America Upstate South Carolina President Stacy Brandon is retiring, the bank announced on March 24.
Her retirement will take effect on April 1, ending a 39-year career with Bank of America. Brandon has served as the president of the bank’s Upstate market since 2015. Bank of America will name a new market president later this year.
Brandon, a Greenville native, started with Bank of America – formerly Bankers Trust of South Carolina – after graduating from the University of South Carolina in 1984. She spent three years working at Park Sterling Bank and CertusBank before rejoining Bank of America in 2015.
“It’s been just a tremendously fascinating career, as not only have banks become larger and had more products and services to offer, but just to be in the Upstate where we’ve grown and changed so much,” Brandon said. “I just couldn’t think of a better place to be or place to work than here at Bank of America.”
Brandon has spent the majority of her career in commercial banking. In addition to her role as market president, Brandon serves as a senior relationship manager for Bank of America’s Global Commercial Bank division, managing a portfolio of middle-market businesses across the Upstate.
As Upstate market president, Brandon has helped grow the bank’s market share and advance economic opportunity in the region. The bank currently operates 19 financial centers across the Upstate, along with offices for Merrill Wealth Management, a part of Bank of America Corporation.
Brandon said she has enjoyed mentoring her teammates and supporting their professional development as market president. She has also helped foster partnerships with nonprofit organizations and local governments to strengthen local communities.
“We really do believe that we should give back to the communities where we work, that we need to be engaged with where the needs are greatest and try to assist both nonprofits and governmental folks to lift people up and make their lives more stable,” Brandon said.
Brandon has served on the boards of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, the South Carolina Bankers Association, Upcountry History Museum and Emmanuel’s Hammer. She has also held leadership positions with the Greenville Tech Foundation, the Upstate SC Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Greenville County March of Dimes for Babies and Pendleton Place.
