Blue Moon Specialty Foods is opening a second location in downtown Spartanburg in the former Motte & Sons Bootlegging Co. distillery location, 220 E. Daniel Morgan Avenue.
Blue Moon Bodega, is planned as “your friendly neighborhood grocery store” and may open as soon as this fall, according to Blue Moon co-owner Molly Cashman.
The 2,000-square-foot retail portion of space will offer fresh produce, cheese, meat, craft beer, a wine cellar, and pantry and other household items, along with a salad bar, coffee bar, ice cream shop and even a build-your-own charcuterie bar.

“We’re trying to create a really welcoming, friendly and inviting space, where customers become regulars, and regulars become friends,” Cashman said.
Out in front of Blue Moon Bodega will be a covered patio space where people can drink beer or wine or eat a meal on the premises. Meanwhile, the 3,000 square feet in the back of the building will be occupied by a warehouse and new commercial kitchen to meet the needs of Blue Moon’s growing wholesale business.

Don’t worry — Blue Moon restaurant at 130 S. Church St. won’t be going anywhere, Cashman said.
“We’re not moving,” she said. “This is just the next step for us.”
Cashman and her father, Chris “Wishbone” Walker, opened the first Blue Moon Specialty foods retail location in 2016 and have since grown from the two of them with one part-time employee to now having more than 20 people on staff.

In addition to its retail location, the company has expanded its wholesale business with a growing line of seasoning blends, marinades, dips, dressings, hot sauces, spreads, casseroles, heat and serve entrees, soups and stews, baked foods, salads, quiches and other savory pies.
Blue Moon Specialty Foods is now taking applications for staff at the new location. If interested, email orders@bluemoonsc.com.
