After months of preparation, Rise Bakery (risebakerysc.com), 1264 Pendleton Street, will open to the public March 5, owner Julian Loue announced.
Hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Loue and team will offer artisan breads and french pastries but, Loue says, Rise’s menu is heavily skewed toward sourdough.
Customers can wash it down with local-sourced drip coffee (they’ll feature a different brand each month) or choose from a selection of cold beverages. The bakery’s floor plan is geared for the grab-and-go crowd, but, Loue says the renovated space will have a few bar stools for those who’d like to take a moment to savor the flavor.

He says they’re also looking at an expanded menu for the lunch crowd, but, first things first. As for the simple name “Rise,” Loue says it reflect a commitment to keeping it simple.
“‘Rise’ is such an evocative word and in the baking world, it works,” he says. “I’m a fan of the single-word brand.”
