Foodies have a new burger place to check out in downtown Greenville.
Windy City Burgers, which was created through a partnership between Molly and Miles Ice Cream co-owner Nicole O’Brien and former Sassafras Southern Bistro owner Brant Kennedy, will open at 12 E. Coffee St. on June 28.
The restaurant has an emphasis on to-go orders and offers seating for up to 16 people inside and four to eight individuals outside. Its menu includes 10 burgers and five specialty fries, such as:
- The Bernard – feta cheese, onion, tomato, olive tapenade and tzatziki sauce.
- Windy City Burger – lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. Customers may also choose American, Swiss, cheddar or pepper-jack cheese to top the burger.
- The Northwood – applewood smoked bacon, fried egg and homemade pimento cheese.
- Garlic parmesan fries.
- Goat cheese pesto fries.
- Buffalo bleu cheese fries.
All sandwiches come with the option of the house blend of smoked pork belly and ground chuck meat, grilled or fried chicken or a plant-based burger patty known as an Impossible Burger.
“I just want to emphasize all the work that we are putting in behind the scenes,” said O’Brien. “That’s kind of why we are starting out with our hours being so short because there is a lot of prep work with making the bread and grinding this meat. We are putting in a lot of time so you can get the best product available for a burger.”
After being open for a few weeks, Windy City Burgers also plans to roll out delivery options on all delivery platforms.
The restaurant is open 4-9 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday, 4-10 p.m., Friday-Saturday and noon-6 p.m., Sunday.
