BMW’s 60,000-square-foot Vehicle Accessories Center is the latest in a number of new facilities the automaker has opened recently near its Greer assembly plant.
The $25 million center, which is expected to create about 60 new jobs, will “factory install” a number of accessories into new vehicles before they reach dealerships.
The parts will include wheels, body parts, decals, M Performance parts, interior trim pieces, floor mats, roof accessories and more, according to BMW.
“By factory installing accessories before delivery to the dealer, vehicles arrive already as ordered by customers,” said Sebastian Mackensen, president and CEO of BMW of North America. “This will provide for a more efficient process and quicker delivery times for our customers.”
The center will support vehicles like the X3, X5 and X7 sport utility vehicles, and it will support the upcoming XM that will begin assembly in December.
The opening of the facility comes after the automaker recently opened its North American training center and logistics center and announced it was building a metal stamping plant that will open in fall 2024. The company recently celebrated its 30th anniversary in South Carolina and built its six millionth BMW at the Greer factory.
