Growing its footprint in the Upstate, Sprouts Farmers Market plans to open a new store in the North Hills Shopping Center in 2024.
The grocer will sell natural and organic products at its new location at 2435 E. North St. on the corner of Pleasantburg Drive and East North Street. This will be Sprouts’ second location in Greenville County.
“Sprouts offers fresh seasonal produce, custom-cut meats, vitamins and supplements, ready-to-eat meals, dietary options such as gluten-free or paleo, and thousands of other natural, organic, non-GMO, vegan and plant-based products,” said David McGlinchey, chief strategy officer of Sprouts. “We can’t wait for our Greenville neighbors to see the new store.”
By setting up shop in Greenville’s Eastside, Sprouts Farmers Market will bring approximately 100 new jobs to the area. The company will also help revitalize the nearly 50-year-old North Hills Shopping Center originally built in 1975.

Aston Properties, a Charlotte-based real estate development firm, purchased the property in the early 2000s. As part of its efforts to breathe new life into the shopping center, the development firm is making a multimillion dollar investment into the property with multiple upgrades including:
- Updated facades
- New landscaping
- New patios
- Re-imagined storefronts
- Parking lot repairs
“I think once we’re done with the renovation, (North Hills) will be that sort of neighborhood community gathering place that’ll be vibrant and energetic and an inviting place to be,” said George Dewey, president and CEO of Aston Properties.
The approximately 25,000-square-foot space Sprouts will occupy at the North Hills Shopping Center was previously a BI-LO supermarket. The shopping center also features UFC Gym, several restaurants and multiple retail stores.
“We think it’s a great grocery store location and we really wanted to find a grocery store that would bring in the tenants that we’d like to have in the center that mirror the investment we’re going to make in it,” Dewey said.
Construction of the new Sprouts at North Hills will begin at the end of 2023. Barnes Connell, a managing director for Aston Properties, said the goal is for both Sprouts and the center’s renovations to be done by the end of 2024.
“We’re just excited to really invest in (North Hills) and bring it back up to a level that we think it deserves to be for the surrounding community,” Connell said. “We think Sprouts is a great grocery operating and can do that for the community.”
