Some words relate equally to music and human connection. One of those is “electric.”
Greenville’s upcoming Trueline music venue at 401 Rhett St. in downtown, promises to be just that.
A 1,700-seat main hall is planned, with 400 additional seats in an intimate performance room. It will also include local art, a VIP lounge and ticket booth for a space that’s flexible and eclectic.
Spearheaded by Michael Grozier, co-creator of the House of Blues, Trueline is a space that focuses on honoring music and entertainment.
“Nothing compares to the way live music can move people, especially when it is performed in a space created for and devoted to the art of live music,” said Marty Elliott, talent buyer and booking coordinator for Trueline Brands.
Elliott said construction is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2024 after hitting an important milestone in capital funding through Vicinity Capital.
At the front of the venue on the side closer to Wardlaw Street will be a room called The Handlebar. The name pays homage to The Handlebar, a music venue in Greenville between 1994 and 2014. In addition to The Handlebar will be the main performance venue, which the team has meticulously planned. Elliott said an acoustician has come to the space, and that work will be done to minimize outside sound.
The team will soon begin to plan bookings for times after the completion of construction.
