The Greenville Chamber has launched an endowment campaign to support a new leadership-development program.
Impact Greenville will be aimed at developing innovative solutions to community challenges. It will include business and nonprofit executives, Leadership Greenville alumni and community leaders. Leadership Greenville is currently in its 50th year, and the new advanced program is considered a logical step.
“The legacy of leadership development is only a legacy if it endures to benefit all generations,” said Cheryl Garrison, director of talent and leadership at the chamber. “Impact Greenville will ensure many generations in Greenville County have the opportunity to participate in an exemplary leadership development program in which they collaborate to address our region’s most critical issues.”
Garrison is also executive director of the Greenville Chamber Foundation. More than 2,000 have graduated from the Leadership Greenville program since 1973.
The endowment campaign is intended to set a long-term foundation for the new program. According to a news release from the chamber, “the fund seeks visionary donors who appreciate the value of Leadership Greenville … and continued leadership opportunities through Impact.”
The chamber did not release a financial goal for the endowment. The inaugural Impact Greenville class is planned for 2025, and the chamber will accept applications.
“Our investors are so critical to what we do, not only at the chamber but what our program participants are able to do in the community,” chamber CEO Carlos Phillips said. “I’m asking our community of visionary leaders to boldly support us as we step into a new era of leadership development.”
