A $60 million project at Judson Mill District will see two historic structures converted into 181 loft apartments.
The buildings are the last on the former textile mill campus to be revitalized. The work will create about 170,000 square feet of new residential space.
Judson Mill is located on 701 Easley Bridge Road, just west of the Greenville city limits. Redevelopment of the former mill began in 2019, and now includes a mix of commercial, retail, event and residential space. Belmont Sayre, Taft Family Ventures and Madrock Advisors have overseen the transformation.
“Our goal is to preserve the legacy of these historic structures while fostering a modern, vibrant community where residents can thrive and connect,” said Ken Reiter, president of Belmont Sayre. “This project represents the culmination of our vision for the Judson Mill District.”
The new apartments will range from studio to three-bedroom. Construction is expected to be complete by mid-2025, with leasing underway earlier that year. The buildings being revitalized are known as the Jenny and the Westervelt, and were used during the mill years to make thread and yarn.
“The new apartments will feature a blend of historic charm and contemporary amenities, enhancing the diverse offerings available within the Judson Mill District,” said Taft Family Ventures principal Thomas F. Taft, Jr.
