As technology continues to evolve and improve, businesses find both opportunities and challenges in using that technology to increase efficiency and build success.
Exploring some of those opportunities and challenges was the focus of Greenville-based ScanSource’s Partner First conference Aug. 19-20, which brought together dozens of the technology company’s partners from the U.S. and Canada.
For more than 30 years, ScanSource has connected businesses with technology solutions as a hybrid distributor.
Working initially with barcode scanner technology, the company’s offerings have since expanded to include technologies like networking, cloud computing and point-of-sale systems, to name a few.
One of the biggest growth areas for ScanSource partners is in mobile connectivity, according to Tony Sorrentino, the company’s president of specialty technologies.
The company’s recent acquisition of Texas-based Advantix, a managed connectivity provider, is an example of ScanSource’s expansion into technologies that take advantage of cellular network access, Sorrentino said.
While the Partner First conference addressed many of the ways businesses can use technology to solve problems, an end-user panel discussion highlighted some of the broader concerns businesses face with the technologies they deploy in the workplace.
The panelists were:
- George Haddad, pediatric vice chairman for clinical affairs for Prisma Health
- Beth Paul, general manager for Bon Secours Wellness Arena
- Carl Sobocinski, founder and president of Table 301 Restaurant Group
- Julia Fuchs, general manager of material and transport control at BMW Manufacturing
The panel discussed ways technology is helping their respective businesses like scheduling, inventory control, supply chain management and cybersecurity.
