Travelers Taproom, a local bar nestled between Cherrydale and Travelers Rest, has listed its property for sale for $950,000 with commercial real estate agents Watershed GVL.
The Poinsett Highway business is not closing, but it is seeking additional investors.
“That building has a ton of potential for some for other things, tons of room for a kitchen,” said co-owner Jerry Davis. “We’d love to expand the parking and that kind of thing, and having a partner with deeper pockets would help.”
Davis said the listing was meant to generate conversation with a potential investor to continue to operate the local “third space” and maybe even expand. Davis and his co-owner, Steve Roe, are “regular Joes” with full-time other jobs, so with the right partner the space could realize its full potential.
As an added factor, the business recently renewed its liquor liability insurance and found that its premium went up 110%, an issue which has been cited by multiple local businesses that have closed in the past two years. Davis said he is sympathetic to others that have seen even more starkly skyrocketing spikes.
Ultimately, Davis remained optimistic about keeping the doors open.
“Oh, we’re nothing but fight,” Davis said. “We don’t give up. Not around here. We’ll do whatever we got to do.”
Travelers Taproom is located at 2624 Poinsett Hwy. between Greenville and Travelers Rest. It is open all week: Monday through Friday from 3 to 11 p.m., Saturday from 2 to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m.
