Reedy Property Services, Coln Plumbing and KCBM (Kairos Electrical) have merged to form Scout Mechanical.
The new Greenville-based services company combines decades of expertise in heating, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical services to assist customers located in the Upstate. Scout Mechanical officially launched at the beginning of 2025 and established its headquarters at 1450 Laurens Road.
Bishop Scott, a former owner and CEO of Reedy Property Group, said conversations to merge the companies began in fall 2024. Reedy Property Services, led by Charlie Niedrach, was a division of Reedy Property Group that provided HVAC services for the company and other third-party property-management clients.
At the time, Paul Halphen was a client of Reedy Property Services and owned KCBM, a local commercial electrical company. Halphen, Scott and Niedrach shared an interest in joining forces to offer multiple trades under one combined company. Andrew Coln, principal at Coln Development and owner of Coln Plumbing, joined the merger later in the planning process.
“We saw that we had a lot of shared values. The way we wanted to run a business, treat customers, treat employees was very aligned,” Niedrach said. “It was kind of a natural progression.”
Scout Mechanical works with commercial and residential clients, offering both service and contract models. The leadership team’s goal is to scale Scout Mechanical’s HVAC, plumbing and electrical services to be a premier trades company in the region.
“We now have survived the merger part” Halphen said. “We’ve got enough processes in place to perform well. We’re going to continue to refine those.”
The merger brought together 31 skilled trade professionals to work under Scout Mechanical. As the company continues to develop, the leadership team plans to hire more local talent to serve its growing list of customers.
“We realize the value of our people,” Scott said. “A lot of what we plan to put out public facing is to attract the people we want here, and we hope to have a waiting list of people who want to come aboard.”
Branding details
The name Scout Mechanical was inspired by the Boy Scouts of America. Charlie Niedrach, co-founder of Scout Mechanical, said the leadership team felt the Boy Scouts embodied the company’s values, which include solving problems for people, caring for their employees and helping the community. The company’s logo represents the three trades Scout Mechanical offers: HVAC, electrical and plumbing.
