Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina will open RePlay, a thrift sports store, Sept. 12 at 1 Krieger Drive in Travelers Rest.
The 800-square-foot store will sell sports equipment, activewear and other athletic goods. The store will open at 10 a.m after a ribbon cutting. Goodwill will host a tailgate from 11 a.m. to noon with games and giveaways.
The nonprofit invests more than 90 cents of each dollar raised in its retail stores to provide career opportunities and job training for local residents, along with other community services.
“We believe in second chances, whether that’s in your career or your sports passions, and our aim is to remove barriers to those opportunities,” said Pat Williams, CEO of Goodwill in the Upstate and Midlands. “By providing high-quality sporting goods at a fraction of the cost, RePlay gives our community the chance to play, compete and stay active without financial strain.”
