Clemson Eye is pleased to announce the addition of Sreeni Basa, M.D., to its team of doctors. Basa will be Clemson Eye’s new medical retina and diabetic eye disease specialist. He earned his medical degree at Bangalore Medical College and completed an internship in general surgery at the University of Arizona in Tucson, followed by a residency in ophthalmology and a fellowship in medical retina at the University of Arizona. Basa completed a postdoctoral fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases at the Schepens Eye Research Institute of Massachusetts Eye and Ear-Harvard Medical School in Boston.
Basa has been active in teaching other physicians and has been recognized on the Dean’s List for Excellence in Teaching Award by the College of Medicine at the University of Arizona as well as being the recipient of the Gold Star Award from the Tucson Veterans Affairs Hospital and the Retina Research Foundation Joseph M. and Eula C. Lawrence Award. He was also selected for the prestigious Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Resident Retreat award. Basa is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO).
At Clemson Eye, Basa will care for patients with all types of diseases of the retina and is a specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic eye diseases such s diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), retinal vascular disease such as retinal vein occlusions resulting from systemic circulation problems, retinal tears/holes, and other macular and vitreoretinal diseases. Basa’s goal is to offer his patients the most advanced treatments available and provide the close monitoring and follow-up required to ensure patients receive great care and the best visual outcomes.
