The popular restaurant franchise Amici, known for its pizza, hot wings and beer selections, will be opening by the end of July in downtown Easley.
Taking over a renovated building at 121 S. Pendleton St., the new franchise will be run by married couple Ferrante and Stephanie Johnson.
“We both graduated not far from here at Clemson and we are both extremely excited to be bringing the Amici pizza, wings and friends experience here,” Ferrante Johnson said.
The building Amici will occupy comes with its own unique history. Completed on December 8, 1941 — the day after the Pearl Harbor attack — it was originally a grocery store before being converted into downtown Easley’s local hardware store.
The opening of Amici also brings with it the first brewery in Easley, with tastings available seven days a week. The beers will change periodically, with the first options including an amber ale, a Mexican lager, an IPA and a hefeweizen.
The first Amici opened in Madison, Georgia, in 1993, and the new spot in Easley will be the 10th location and seventh franchise for the company.
CEO Mike Torino said the company only plans to expand even further.
“Keep your eyes on us because we’re growing and big things are happening,” Torino said. “This isn’t the last time we’l be making an announcement about opening a new location.”
