Avelo Airlines inaugurated twice-weekly nonstop service from Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport to Orlando International Airport (MCO) June 7 with a ribbon cutting, live music and refreshments for the first incoming and outgoing passengers.
The service will start with flights Wednesdays and Saturdays before switching to Mondays and Fridays June 23.
“We’re very excited to be here,” said Victoria Stennes, vice president of people and customer experience for Avelo Airlines. “This is such an incredible, growing community.”
Stennes said the new nonstop flights will not only serve the business and leisure travelers from the Upstate but will also allow new travelers from other regions to experience all the area has to offer.
In recognition of the start of the busy summer travel season, Avelo is offering $39 one-way fares from GSP to Orlando.
Starting June 22, the airline will also offer non-stop service to two additional airports: Southern Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) and the Philadelphia/ Delaware Valley’s Wilmington Airport (ILG).
Stennes said the airline operates 15 Boeing Next Generation 737 aircraft with plans to expand the fleet to 18 jets by the end of the year.
Avelo Airlines began operations in April 2021 and serves 44 cities through five hubs.
