A new food hall has just opened its doors in downtown Greer.
Just don’t call it a food court.
Billing itself as an “artisanal lifestyle dining location,” the newly opened Cartwright Food Hall at 215 Trade St. opened its doors on June 2, bringing together six local eateries and restaurants under one roof. Patrons can take advantage of cross meal ordering, which is where people can order from multiple restaurants on one website and receive everything in the same order.
The new food hall is housed within a street-front building and connected carriage house built in 1904, previously the site of a livery, stables, restaurant, hardware store, gallery and museum.
Now fully remodeled, the space will house:
- Empanada Shack
- Flying Fox Coffee
- Me Irie on Trade
- Mo Mo’s Sushi & More
- Trade Street Tap Room
- White Wine & Butter
Co-owners Val and Elaine Kang said the goal is to create a “wonderful family-friendly atmosphere” that aims to serve the community of Greer and highlight local business owners.
The 5,400-square-foot street-front building on Trade Street features elevator access and upstairs event space, as well as seating for 84. The 1,200-square-feet at the connected carriage house offers outdoor seating in the backyard patio for 60.
Why the name Cartwright?
The old space’s historical use as a livery stable and carriage house called to mind the term “cartwright,” an old word meaning “a maker of carts,” which the owners saw as a fitting name for the food hall.
