If Conestee Road is going to be developed, it might as well be done with a higher-end community in mind.
That’s the sentiment of Brad Skelton, who is planning to build a new subdivision along the Reedy River across the road from Conestee dam that would create a new community.
The plans from Skelton, owner of Red Oak Developers, originally called for 111 new homes and lots in the project, but Skelton opted to lower that number to 73 homes and lots in order to reduce density and increase lot size.
The site for the proposed subdivision would feature homes with an average size of 2,500 square feet and price tag of $450,000. Roughly 30% of the development site, which was recently annexed into the city of Greenville, has tree coverage.
The project has already gone before the city’s Planning Commission for a preliminary meeting but would still need to meet approval from city staff, including architectural details that would require Design Review Board approval. Skelton has yet to offer renderings or drawings of what these homes would look like.
Assuming the overall plans meet with approval, Skelton said he hopes to get started on construction within the next two months.
