Anita’s Mexican Restaurant – 101 Alice Ave. in Simpsonville — will close its doors March 27 after 37 years, the restaurant announced March 21 on Facebook.
“It has been so rewarding to have shared our home-cooked Mexican food to each of you,” owner Anita Baldwin wrote in the post. “Some of the restaurant’s employees have been with them for over 30 years. Thank all our dedicated employees. Without them, we could not have survived all these years.”
“Glad for Anita … sad for Simpsonville,” wrote one Facebook follower as support poured in for Baldwin’s decision to retire. Baldwin, originally from Michoacán, Mexico, opened the restaurant in 1985, according to a blurb on the restaurant website.
