Here’s a recap of the Jan. 6 meeting of Greenville’s Design Review Board Urban Panel:
Delayed: New outdoor bar for former Ice on Main spot
A new outdoor structure is planned for the Village Green courtyard space fronting the Courtyard Marriott along Main Street that historically hosted the Ice on Main skating rink, although the details remain up in the air.
A request from architect David Thompson and property owner Kirk Crawford of Windsor Aughtry would see the a portion of the open courtyard transformed into a spot for outdoor dining, a bar and a fireplace feature.

The request sought approval for modifications to the existing storefront at the courtyard and Broad Street, along with the removal of the existing fabric awnings.

The plans call for a slanted outdoor roof covering a three-sided bar, with bar seating and high-top tables adjacent. The fireplace area will sit along the Courtyard Marriott building facade facing Main Street.
No plans have been formally announced for what specific bar or restaurant will occupy the outdoor space.
While the new bar area will take up some of the courtyard, it remains to be determined whether Ice on Main will be able to be held in the coming year in the remainder of the courtyard. It was previously announced that the rink would be moved to a new location, but no formal announcements have been made as to whether that move is official.

Approved: Comprehensive signage package for Camperdown plaza
A new signage plan was approved for Camperdown plaza, bringing a greater sense of uniformity to the new development’s marquee public area.
